A whopping 1.3 million households in Australia have a motor or a speed boat and 250,231 of those are registered in the greater Brisbane area including the Gold Coast. So, it is no wonder that people interstate and even overseas are turning to the local market here when thinking of buying a boat.

We have been dealing with numerous new and used boat purchases over the years and have finetuned our services to suit overseas and interstate boat buyers as well as the local ones. We pride ourselves in truly being the one-stop-shop to walk you through and coordinate any boat purchase from beginning till the end.

Recently we have worked with a buyer from Melbourne to assist him through a purchase of a 38-foot Fontaine and getting it ready for the new owner to use. The buyer bought the boat from one of our previous client and therefore decided to use us to guide him through the process. The boat was purchased in Horizon Shores, Queensland about 12 months ago but before the work got started, the global COVID-19 pandemic hit. The Melbourne based new owner has been locked down in Melbourne for most of this year but luckily for him, we have looked after the process here on the Gold Coast and his boating plans have remained on track.

As mentioned, we had been servicing this boat over the years and had the full knowledge of the condition and service log of the boat. While we normally would strongly recommend a Pre-Purchase Inspection, in this situation, it was not necessary. We already knew any work recommended and had detailed information of the condition of the vessel for the buyer.

The next step was to transfer the vessel to our workshop at The Boatworks in Coomera. We picked up the boat and delivered it to our undercover, secure premises ready for all necessary work.

Our marine mechanic team have undertaken all required work to get the boat running as new; antifouling, hull work to remove the old engines, removing those engines, supplying and fitting the D1-30 Saledrive Volvo Penta engines and returned the vessel to water and testing it.

At the moment, the catamaran is waiting for the borders to open and for the new owner to take the boat out on the water. And up until that is possible, we have organised for safe and secure long-term storage for this boat right here at The Boatworks.

Whether you are on the Gold Coast, in Melbourne or somewhere overseas, our experience and expertise are here to benefit you when purchasing a boat on the Gold Coast!
