Recently Seatech marine has been repowering the “Skylark”, which has included hull modification for the larger horsepower purchased engines.

As all of our repowers, thought goes into what the customer’s requirements are and what is the main use of the vessel. In this case, modifications included laminated engine beds, with thread tapped alloy 25mm plates fibreglassed internally. This gives the engines the best security to the hull and for a true engine alignment, smooth no vibration at all rpm’s.

Detailed prop calculations for the correct diameter and pitch to obtain the customers required cruise speeds. This 54-foot motor cat has gone through a complete mechanical overhaul, fitted with two new D6 – 300hp Volvo Penta diesel shaft drives here in Coomera at The Boat Works.

The catamaran was bought off a broker on the Gold Coast by our Malaysian client. The client got in contact with us for a quote to repower the vessel, including all propulsion hardware, hull modifications, custom dash panels, rear-engine box/seating arrangements and the supply and installation of a new genset. The customers have commented on how easy a massive engine transplant has been all organised by one company.

We have taken advantage of and needed all the experience and expertise in our team and it has become more than handy when navigating through a job of this size. It would be impossible to be a one-stop-shop without a team of combined experience of over a century and with expertise in all areas of marine mechanics from electronic diagnosis to unbeatable engine knowledge of any brand. Our support industry contacts set us apart from the competition.
