Seatech Marine has the Gold Coast’s largest team of qualified and certified technicians. It is important to us that you know and trusts the people who work on your boat so one by one, we would like to introduce our team to you.

If you have visited our premises at The Boatworks Boatyard and Marina, you know that we have a parts shop as part of our workshop. The shop does not only supply our in-house jobs with parts but services walk-in customers as well. And the shop is run by our Parts Manager, Jon Southall who manages all aspects of spare parts.

Jon is a boating enthusiast from Perth with a lifelong interest and passion for boats. It all started with leisure trips as a kid on the small family boat admiring the big power boats and yachts that cruised along the west coast of Australia. And it wasn’t just boats, it was all things mechanical.

Jon’s interest got him into a career in heavy automotive spare parts and 11 years ago that career took him to Queensland. Jon chose a path less travelled and instead of getting a house, Jon bought a boat, a big one. He lived on his boat on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast for a while before settling down on the latter. Even though Jon says that he worked on his boat more than he used it, this boatie has cruised along every inch of the Southeast Queensland coastline from Mooloolaba to Coolangatta and beyond.

“I love working with boats and that is one of the things I love most about my job at Seatech. We deal with great brands and specific dealerships and I get to work with a great team of guys as well,” Jon said about his job.

When it comes to local boating tips, Jon is definitely your man. “You cannot go past the Broadwater and the canals on the Gold Coast. You need to stop at Harrigan’s Inn pub at Jacob’s Well where you can dock your boat right at the front and stop for a quick drink or something to eat,” Jon told. “Brisbane river is magnificent too. I have parked there previously for a week and there is something magical about being in the heart of a big city on your boat,” he continued. “You can turn this all into a tour and go up north to Mooloolaba outside the islands and come back south on the west side stopping at Brisbane, Moreton Bay as you go.” Take it from a boating enthusiast and you cannot go wrong!
